What is pastel?

Pastel is not colored chalk but is pure pigment, the same used in all art media. The pure pigment is first ground into a paste, then rolled into sticks, and finally dried, making pastel. It will not oxidize, darken, fade, yellow or crack with time. Pastel paintings reflect light like a prism. Sixteen century pastel paintings are still as bright as the day they were painted.

Tips for caring for your pastel painting:

Keep art out of direct sunlight and high humidity areas. If needed, use anti-static cleaner on plexiglass.
